Carol Hickman

Carol Hickman is a nonprofit leader, consultant, and coach with deep roots in Oregon’s nonprofit community. She has held leadership roles at Oregon Humanities, the Nonprofit Association of Oregon, OPB, and Girl Scouts of Oregon & SW Washington.

Today, she works with mission-driven organizations to turn strategic plans into action, strengthen leadership and governance, and build meaningful engagement with staff, boards, and communities. Her recent clients include Reach Out and Read, Oregon ASK, Path Home, Green Lents, and ARCS Foundation Oregon. Carol earned a BA in American Civilization from Brown University, where she studied early colonial material culture. An Oregonian since 1991, she was appointed by Governor Kate Brown to serve as a commissioner and later co-chair of Oregon Volunteers. She has also served on the boards of several cultural organizations and is a long-time volunteer at her local elementary school library. Outside of work, Carol is an avid hand weaver, reader, and baker, and lives in Southwest Portland with her husband and their ridiculous rescue dog.
