Kate Alperin 


Kate is a nonprofit professional with a background in community resilience, sustainable development, and operations management. She holds an M.S. in International Relations and Global Affairs with a concentration in Global Health and Development, and a B.A. in Environmental and Natural Resource Sociology with a minor in Sustainability. Her work is grounded in equity, access, and systems thinking, shaped by several years working abroad and supporting grassroots development initiatives.

Currently, she volunteers as a Neighborhood Emergency Team member through the Portland Bureau of Emergency Management, responds to disasters with Team Rubicon, and facilitates peer support groups with Cascadia Stack, a community-based climate resiliency network. She also serves on the board of the MIKE Program, a youth-focused health equity organization.

In addition to her work in resilience and advocacy, Kate is an artist-in-residence at The Haven, a local community co-op that fosters creative collaboration. In her free time, she enjoys Wikipedia deep dives, painting, spending time outdoors, and hanging out with her two cats.
