Kathleen Sullivan, Ph.D.
Kathleen Sullivan is a seasoned non-profit leader with a Ph.D. in Urban Studies and Planning from Portland State University. She has a strong track record of growing organizations, advancing equity, and serving marginalized communities.
As Executive Director of Openhouse in San Francisco, she doubled the budget to $7.5million, co-designed a 185-unit affordable apartment building for older adults and partnered with the State Department of Aging and UC Berkeley CITRIS to secure over$900,000 for the first study on LGBTQ aging in California.
Previously, as Northwest Director of Engage Northwest, she co-developed the “Community for All Ages” model promoting inclusive spaces for youth, elders, and immigrants.
Kathleen has taught social gerontology and aging studies at Oregon Health Sciences University and Portland State and provided statewide diversity training and consulting through Optimal Aging.
Kathleen’s civic leadership includes serving on Oregon’s Governor’s Commission on Senior Services, IMPACT CDA Advisory Committee, Leading Age California Equity Cabinet, AARP as a Diversity Fellow and coach for Roosevelt High School’s Girls Varsity Tennis team. She is excited to support the dedicated staff and volunteers at Tualatin Food Pantry and to help expand resources for the growing number of community members in need.
